Sake One Momokawa Diamond Junmai Ginjo Sake - 300 ml
Brewed by SakeOne, a pioneer in the American craft sake movement since 1992, Momokawa Diamond is often considered the standard-bearer of their lineup. It is crafted using soft water from Oregon's Willamette Valley and premium Calrose rice from the Sacramento Valley, blending Pacific Northwest resources with traditional Japanese techniques under the guidance of Master Brewer Takumi Kuwabara.
Description
This super-premium Junmai Ginjo is clear and medium-bodied, known for its exceptional balance between fruity notes and earthy minerals. The nose is fragrant and enticing, featuring aromas of melon, green apple, and a distinct touch of mild anise. On the palate, it delivers a crisp and refreshing experience with flavors of ripe pear, citrus, and honeydew melon, supported by subtle herbaceous notes of grass and bamboo. As a Junmai Ginjo, it is brewed purely from rice, water, yeast, and koji with no added alcohol, and the rice is polished to at least 58% to ensure a refined finish. ABV 14.8%, SMV +4.
Food Pairing
Momokawa Diamond is a highly versatile "daily drinker" that complements a wide range of cuisines beyond traditional Japanese fare. Its medium-dry profile and crisp acidity make it a perfect partner for sushi, sashimi, and grilled salmon. It also pairs remarkably well with savory Western dishes such as gourmet burgers, BBQ ribs, and roasted peppers. For a more adventurous pairing, try it with a charcuterie platter featuring duck liver pâté and aged cheeses like Jasper Hill Highlander, which helps release the sake's natural umami. It is best enjoyed well-chilled to maintain its refreshing, fruit-forward edge.
