Nakano Kunizakari Japanese Plum Umeshu - 300 ml

Nakano Kunizakari Japanese Plum Umeshu - 300 ml

Nakano Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. was established in 1844 during the Edo period and has been managed by the Nakano family for over three centuries. The brewery is unique for operating its own dedicated plum farm, Kuni Zakari Farm, where employees cultivate approximately 3,000 trees to ensure the quality of the fruit.

Description

This classic umeshu presents a golden amber colour. The aromatic profile features inviting notes of caramel, lemon, and dark plum. On the palate, it delivers a rich and complex sensory experience where juicy sweetness is balanced by mild spicy and tart undertones with hints of marzipan. The body is smooth and flavourful, leading to a refreshing and slightly tannic finish. It has an alcohol content of 10.5%.

Food Pairing

The versatile sweet and tart profile of this umeshu makes it an excellent aperitif or dessert accompaniment. It pairs exceptionally well with savoury, salt forward snacks like nuts, beef jerky, or blue cheese. For a full meal, it complements spicy dishes such as Szechuan chicken or curry, as the sweetness helps balance the heat. It can also be served on the rocks or mixed with soda water to pair with fried comfort foods like chicken karaage or tempura.
