Myoka Rangyoku Junmai Daiginjo Shizuku Genshu Sake - 720 ml
Myoka Rangyoku Junmai Daiginjo Shizuku Genshu is an ultra-premium sake originating from the Nihonmatsu domain in the Fukushima prefecture of Japan. It is crafted by the Daishichi Sake Brewery, a historic institution founded in 1752 that has remained under the ownership of the Ohta family for ten generations. The brewery is renowned for its steadfast commitment to the traditional 'kimoto' brewing method and its unique 'super flat' rice polishing technique, which removes impurities while preserving the essential character of the Yamada Nishiki rice.
Description
This sake presents a clear, 'heavenly' appearance and is only released in years when the highest quality is achieved, after being cellared for at least four years to reach its full maturity. It features an intoxicating and complex aromatic bouquet with notes of rose petals, cream, raisins, bananas, and cotton candy. On the palate, it is rich, full-bodied, and velvety, offering layers of ripe persimmon, marshmallow, nougat, and subtle woody elements. The mouthfeel is creamy with a subtle bite of alcohol at the finish, leading to a long and harmonious aftertaste. It is a 'genshu' (undiluted) sake with an alcohol by volume of 16%.
Food Pairing
Myoka Rangyoku is a monumental sake designed to enhance the most luxurious cuisines. It pairs exceptionally well with rich and flavorful dishes such as lobster a la vapeur in orange sabayon sauce, sea bass in a baked pie wrap, or Bresse chicken filled with foie gras and truffles. Its complex profile also complements game meats, smoked fish, and intense pastas. For a sophisticated Western pairing, it can be served alongside Iberian pork saute or a deep, savory wild boar stew with mushrooms. It is best enjoyed chilled in a large wine glass to allow its intricate aged aromas to unfold.
