G Joy Junmai Ginjo Genshu - 750 ml

G Joy Junmai Ginjo Genshu - 750 ml

G Joy Junmai Ginjo Genshu is a premium craft sake originating from the United States, specifically brewed in Forest Grove, Oregon. It is produced by SakéOne, America's first commercially successful craft sake brewer, which was founded in 1992. This sake is handcrafted using ancient Japanese techniques blended with American sensibilities, utilizing exclusive California Calrose rice and natural spring water from the Oregon coast range.

Description

This sake is a 'genshu', meaning it is undiluted and bottled at its full natural strength, resulting in a bold and powerful character. It presents a clear appearance and features a rich, velvety, and dense body. The aromatic profile is full and fruity, offering notes of ripe melon, cherry, and orchard fruits like pear and plum, accented by hints of coconut and bread dough. On the palate, it provides creamy layers of fruit flavours balanced by earthy tones and a touch of tropical spice. The finish is long and lingering with a distinctive hint of black pepper. It has an alcohol by volume of 18% and is best served chilled.

Food Pairing

Due to its high alcohol content and bold structure, G Joy pairs exceptionally well with rich and flavourful dishes. It is a natural match for Japanese favourites like sushi, tempura, and king oyster yakitori. Its complex profile also allows it to complement Western and fusion cuisines, such as gourmet burgers, chipotle spiced ribs, and rosemary crusted lamb. Additionally, it stands up well to spicy Thai dishes and a selection of rich, mature cheeses like gorgonzola or aged cheddar.
