Aizu Homare Lychee Nigori Sake - 300 ml

Aizu Homare Lychee Nigori Sake - 300 ml

Established in 1918 as Kanou Shuzo, the brewery eventually became Aizu Homare, a name meaning "honor" or "glory". Located at the foot of Mount Iide, the brewery utilizes exceptionally soft subterranean water—traditionally worshipped as a gift from the gods—to produce its diverse range of sakes. Under the leadership of fourth-generation president Hiroyuki Karahashi, Aizu Homare has gained international acclaim, notably winning the Champion Sake title at the 2015 International Wine Challenge.

Description

This fruit-infused sake is a milky, unfiltered nigori blended with natural lychee and a touch of lemon juice. It features a cloudy appearance and a velvety, smoothie-like texture due to the presence of fine rice sediment. The nose is vivid and aromatic, unfolding with layers of ripe lychee, banana, and pear. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance of creamy sweetness and crisp, tangy acidity, reminiscent of biting into a fresh, peak-season lychee. The finish is refreshing and light, leaving a delicate umami undertone. ABV 10%.

Food Pairing

The lush sweetness and tropical profile of this lychee nigori make it an excellent choice for an aperitif or a palate cleanser. It pairs exceptionally well with spicy dishes, such as buffalo chicken wings or Thai curry, where the creamy texture helps mellow the heat. For a sweet conclusion, serve it chilled alongside chocolate desserts, fresh fruit, or vanilla bean panna cotta. It is also highly versatile for cocktails; try mixing it with two parts tonic water and a sprig of fresh mint for a refreshing long drink.
