Bruichladdich Octomore 15.2 Single Malt Whisky - 700 ml
Introduction
Bruichladdich Octomore 15.2 is a super-heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky produced on the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Crafted by the progressive Bruichladdich Distillery, this expression is part of the 15th annual Octomore series, which explores the margins of what is possible in whisky making through extreme peat levels and complex cask management. This specific bottling acts as a counterpoint to its stablemates, showcasing the influence of European oak by utilizing a unique maturation 'trifecta' of bourbon, wine, and Cognac casks.
Spirit Description
The whisky displays a pale straw colour, reminiscent of Hebridean sand. The nose is vibrant and sweet, opening with notes of lime zest and lemon meringue pie that sit atop a foundation of earthy peat smoke and toasted oak. On the palate, the texture is viscous and smooth, delivering rich flavours of vanilla custard, caramel, and toffee, balanced by a crack of black pepper and warming cinnamon. The finish is distinctly maritime, with waves of salt spray and lingering peat embers that endure long after the final sip. It is distilled from 100% Scottish Mainland barley, peated to 108.2 PPM, and bottled at 57.9% ABV.
