Bruichladdich Octomore 15.1 Single Malt Whisky - 700 ml

Bruichladdich Octomore 15.1 Single Malt Whisky - 700 ml

Introduction

Bruichladdich Octomore 15.1 is a super-heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky produced on the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Crafted by the innovative Bruichladdich Distillery, known as the 'Progressive Hebridean Distillers', this expression serves as the 'control' bottling for the 15th annual Octomore series. It is distilled from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley and aged for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels and re-charred ex-bourbon casks, showcasing the raw power of the spirit without the influence of European oak.

Spirit Description

This whisky displays a bright, golden colour described by the distillery as 'Winter Sun'. The nose is potent and vibrant, opening with aromas of caramel and citrus zest wrapped in dry, earthy peat smoke, followed by layers of spicy aniseed, vanilla custard, and tropical fruits like mango and banana. On the palate, it delivers an immediate warmth with flavours of sweet dry malt, apricot jam, and toffee, balanced by the intense, signature peat smoke. The finish is long and maritime, featuring lingering notes of charred oak, vanilla, and a fresh sea spray crispness. It is bottled at 59.1% ABV with a phenol content of 108.2 PPM.
