St. Innocent Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard 2021

St. Innocent Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard 2021

Mark Vlossak fell in love with sparkling wine in the early 1980s, which led to wine classes and study. He saw Oregon as a bright spot to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the backbone grapes of Champagne. He founded St. Innocent Winery in 1988 when there were just 40 wineries in the state. Now there are more than 900. While he makes some sparkling wine, the primary focus at the small family winery is single-vineyard still wines, mainly from Pinot Noir. The goal of Vlossak is to capture the character of each of the individual vineyards.

Wine Description

This 100% Pinot Noir presents a dark ruby colour and opens with a complex, spice driven nose featuring aromas of dark cherry, plum, blackberries, and wet stones, accented by hints of balsamic and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is broad and robust, offering an explosion of dark raspberry and dried cherry flavours balanced by a stream of tantalizing acidity and velvety, ripe tannins. The body is medium to full, concluding with a long finish marked by spicy tension and red floral perfume notes.
