Roquette & Cazes Duoro 2021

Roquette & Cazes Duoro 2021

Roquette & Cazes Douro is an exceptional red blend from the Douro Valley in Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This wine is the result of a celebrated partnership formed in 2002 between two friends: Jorge Roquette of the historic Quinta do Crasto in the Douro and Jean-Michel Cazes of the renowned Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Their winemaking philosophy centers on combining the natural power and indigenous grape varieties of the Douro with the elegance and technical expertise of Bordeaux.

Wine Description

This wine is a blend of traditional varieties, typically comprising 60% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, and 15% Tinta Roriz. It displays a deep violet to purple colour and offers an intense sensory profile. The nose is complex, featuring fresh aromas of wild berries, plum, and red fruits layered with elegant notes of violet, baking spices, and a hint of cocoa from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and well structured, balanced by a fresh acidity and fine, velvety tannins. It was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a concentrated yet polished wine with a long, persistent finish.
