Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo 2022
Introduction
Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo is a premium red wine from Italy, specifically produced in the Piedmont region within the Langhe DOC. The historical winery was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Today, the family estate is run by the fourth generation, Enrico Scavino and his daughters Enrica and Elisa, who manage 30 hectares of proprietary vineyards across eight communes in the Barolo area.
Wine Description
This wine is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, often sourced from declassified crus in the village of La Morra, such as Bricco Manescotto and Annunziata. It undergoes a short maceration and low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel to ensure soft extraction, followed by approximately 8 to 10 months of aging in neutral oak and then time in stainless steel to preserve freshness.
Colour: It displays a bright ruby red hue with delicate garnet shades.
Aroma: The nose is delicate and complex, redolent of bright cherry, tart plum, and crushed flowers, accented by notes of licorice, cedar, mint, and tarry smoke.
Palate: It offers a vibrant and elegant palate with flavors of macerated red cherry, kirsch, and orange zest, complemented by hints of white pepper, incense, and dried herbs.
Body: The wine possesses a lean to medium body with striking inner perfume and striking clarity.
Finish: It concludes with a long finish marked by harmonious acidity, floral overtones, and soft, resonant tannins.
ABV: This expression is typically bottled with an alcohol content of 14% to 14.5%.
