Bond St. Eden 2020

Bond St. Eden 2020

Nestled on an 11-acre knoll just north of the Oakville Crossroad, Bond’s St. Eden vineyard is characterized by iron-rich, volcanic soils that impart remarkable depth and structure to the wine. The 2020 vintage exemplifies the site’s signature balance of power and refinement, delivering a wine with impressive concentration, layered complexity, and a refined tannin structure that speaks to its exceptional terroir.

Tasting Notes

Color: Deep purple-black.
Nose: Initially closed, it unfurls to reveal notes of dark chocolate, baked black plums, and crème de cassis, with underlying suggestions of charcoal and fertile loam.
Palate: Full-bodied with layers of energetic black fruits, a firm, grainy texture, and a long, fruity finish.
Finish: Long and expressive, with lingering dark fruit and subtle earthy undertones.

Accolades

  • James Suckling: 98 points
  • Jeb Dunnuck: 93 points

Optimal Drinking Window

2026–2040. While approachable now, this wine will benefit from additional aging to fully develop its complexity and depth.

Serving Suggestions

Decanting: 2–3 hours to allow the wine to fully express its aromatics and texture.
Serving Temperature: 16–18°C (60–64°F) for optimal enjoyment.
