Luneau Papin Gula Ana Muscadet 2020
This exceptional dry white wine originates from France, within the western Loire Valley, specifically the Pays Nantais region, and is classified under the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine AOC, bearing the Cru Communal Goulaine designation. The estate, Domaine Luneau Papin, is one of the leading names in Muscadet, tracing its roots back to the early 18th century, with the Luneau family growing the Melon de Bourgogne grape for over two centuries. The current generation, led by Pierre-Marie Luneau and his wife Marie Chartier-Luneau, continues the estate's tradition of privileging the Melon de Bourgogne grape with a dedication to expressing the unique terroir.
Wine Description
The 'Gula Ana' cuvée is a pure expression of the Melon de Bourgogne grape, making up 100 per cent of the varietal composition, sourced from old vines planted in 1974. It presents an intense straw yellow colour with radiant luminosity. The wine’s aroma is complex, displaying bright, juicy fruit notes of yellow apples, mirabelle plums, and kumquats, underpinned by lanolin, crushed stone, and a salty Atlantic breeze. On the palate, the wine is juicy and crisp, exhibiting great complexity and a remarkable structure. It features elegant acidity, deep minerality, and striking salinity, which, with air, develops creamy texture and nuances of ginger, tobacco, and caramel. This Muscadet is noted for its impressive depth and length, demonstrating a precise balance between fruit, fresh acidity, and mineral structure.
