Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso 2020
Produced in the United States, this distinguished red wine hails from the Moon Mountain District subregion of Sonoma Valley. Established in 1933 by Italian immigrant Louis M. Martini, the winery was a foundational pioneer in Napa Valley following the repeal of Prohibition. Today, under the ownership of E. & J. Gallo, the estate continues to focus on premium site expression from the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard, which features high-elevation volcanic soils and some of California’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon plantings dating back to 1880.
Wine Description
This deep ruby Cabernet Sauvignon opens with an aromatic profile of toasted coconut, caramel, and baked cherries, layered with notes of fig and bay leaves. The full bodied palate reveals concentrated flavors of cherry pie filling, Santa Rosa plum, and allspice, complemented by hints of graham cracker. Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, and 4% Cabernet Franc, the wine is aged for 28 months in a combination of French and American oak, resulting in a supple mouthfeel and a long, balanced finish with round tannins.
Accolades
James Suckling - 94 points
Food Pairing
This robust Cabernet Sauvignon pairs exceptionally well with hearty dishes such as grilled ribeye steak, braised lamb shanks, or roasted venison. The wine's firm tannins and dark fruit profile also complement earthy flavors like wild mushrooms or aged cheddar.
