Joseph Drouhin Vaudon Chablis 'Les Clos' Grand Cru 2023
Introduction
Joseph Drouhin Vaudon Chablis 'Les Clos' Grand Cru is a white wine from France, produced in the Burgundy region and the Chablis appellation. The Joseph Drouhin house has a long history, founded in 1880, and is now led by the fourth generation of the family. The house acquired its own Chablis estate, Domaine Vaudon, to secure long term supplies of the highest quality. 'Les Clos' is one of the seven historic Chablis Grand Cru vineyards, known for its exposure and very steep slope, producing the most powerful and structured wines of the region.
Wine Description
The wine is 100% Chardonnay. It typically has a bright, light gold colour. The aromatic profile is complex, opening with notes of fresh citrus, mineral, and marine tones that evolve into hints of honey, almond, and brioche after time in the glass. On the palate, it is full bodied and powerful, with a dense, mouthfilling texture. Flavours include ripe orchard fruit, white peach, and a strong backbone of minerality. Stylistically, it is a great wine of power, complexity, and impressive concentration that remains elegant and balanced. It is a dry wine. The finish is long, intense, and persistent. The ABV is 13.5%. It has tremendous ageing potential and will continue to improve for 15 to 25 years. The vineyards are farmed using organic and biodynamic practices.
