Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
This elegant and food-friendly red wine originates from the United States, specifically from the premier Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, California. Winemaker Maggie Kruse describes 2021 as an "intensely flavorful stunner" that marked a return to normalcy after the back-to-back challenges of previous years. The winery's philosophy remains rooted in creating a "St. Julien style" wine with California fruit—prioritizing balance, moderate alcohol, and silky tannins over pure power.
Wine Description
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 presents an attractive deep ruby colour with a sophisticated and "pretty" sensory profile. The nose leads with aromas of cassis, black cherry, and boysenberry, layered with intriguing notes of graphite, anise, dried herbs, and vanilla cedar. On the palate, the wine is incredibly silky and fluid, showcasing a "harmonious balance" of blueberries, cranberry, and leather. It is characterized by its vibrant acidity and a surge of saline minerality, leading to a long finish with delicate hints of rose petals and clove. This blend reached an ABV of 13.8% and was matured in 100% French oak barrels. Due to extreme drought conditions that resulted in smaller Cabernet berries, the winemakers added a higher proportion of Merlot (sourced from Sonoma and Dry Creek valleys) to ensure the house's signature soft, elegant texture.
