Hayman's London Dry Gin
Introduction
Hendrick's Gin is a super-premium spirit from Scotland, produced by William Grant & Sons at the Girvan distillery in South Ayrshire. Launched in 1999, the gin was created by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, a chemist who sought to develop a distinct expression using two rare antique copper stills: an 1860 Bennett pot still and a 1948 Carter-Head still. The brand is known for its iconoclastic approach, packaged in a dark brown apothecary style bottle that reflects its 'oddly made' handcrafted nature.
Spirit Description
This gin is uniquely crafted using a symphony of 11 traditional botanicals, further enriched by unusual infusions of Bulgarian rose and specially selected cucumber. The combination of a robust spirit from the Bennett still and a delicate spirit from the Carter-Head still results in an impeccably balanced profile.
Colour: The spirit is perfectly clear and polished in the glass.
Aroma: The nose is bright and inviting, starting with mild citrus tones and herbal juniper, accented by floral scents of rose petal, violet, and a light cucumber influence.
Palate: It offers a silky entry with flavours of sweet elderberry, lime, and orange zest that intertwine with rose, lavender, and a burst of juniper pine.
Body: The gin possesses a medium to full body with a smooth, velvety, and well rounded texture.
Finish: It concludes with a lengthy and crisp finish, marked by a pleasant bitterness, dry spice, and a delicate fade of sweet citrus custard pastry.
ABV: In North America, the spirit is typically bottled at 44% alcohol by volume, while the European version is often 41.4%.
