Introduction

Glenfarclas 12 Year Old is a classic Highland single malt whisky produced in the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and was later purchased in 1865 by John Grant for £511.19. It remains one of the few family owned and operated distilleries in Scotland, currently managed by the sixth generation of the Grant family, who proudly use the slogan 'The Spirit of Independence'.

Spirit Description

This expression is matured for 12 years in 100% Oloroso sherry casks, serving as a vibrant and bold introduction to the distillery's signature sherried style. The production process utilizes traditional direct fired copper pot stills, which are among the largest in Speyside, to create a robust and concentrated distillate.

• Colour: It possesses a vibrant amber gold or deep golden honey yellow hue.

• Aroma: The nose is fresh and light, featuring sherried fruit, honey, and Manuka honey combined with a tempting spicy sweetness and hints of sappy oak and pine resin.

• Palate: It delivers a full bodied and smooth palate with delightful layers of sherried fruit, walnut cake, date, and delicious sweet sensations, occasionally accompanied by a touch of smoke and earth.

• Body: The whisky is characterized by a rich, weighty, and velvety texture with a lovely viscosity.

• Finish: It concludes with a long and flavoursome finish marked by a lingering spiciness, orange zest, and warming notes of cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.

• ABV: Glenfarclas 12 Year Old is bottled at 43%.
