Fattoria del Pino Rosso di Montalcino 2020
Fattoria del Pino Rosso di Montalcino is an authentic red wine from the Montalcino region in Tuscany, Italy. The estate was founded in 2000 by Jessica Pellegrini and her father, Nerio, in the renowned Montosoli area on the northern slopes of the Montalcino hill. Jessica, a former fashion professional, returned to the land to manage the estate with a philosophy centered on celebrating nature, tradition, and the purity of the Sangiovese grape.
Wine Description
This Rosso di Montalcino typically presents a pale ruby red colour. The sensory profile is fresh and lively, featuring vibrant aromas of red berries, wild strawberry, and rose hips, accented by floral notes of violets and hints of musk, menthol, and citrus. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured yet remains extremely drinkable and elegant. It offers soft, velvety tannins and a persistent, long-lasting finish that reflects the unique chalky and marl-rich soils of the Montosoli cru. The wine is composed of 100% Sangiovese Grosso and typically has an ABV ranging from 14% to 14.5%. Following organic and biodynamic principles, the grapes are fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months in steel followed by 8 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Food Pairing
The intense fruit and robust structure of this wine make it a versatile companion for traditional Tuscan cuisine. It pairs exceptionally well with pasta dishes featuring meat or tomato sauces, as well as grilled or stewed red meats like Florentine steak and lamb. Its balanced tannins and acidity also complement roasted poultry, such as rabbit, chicken, or turkey. For a cheese course, it is ideal with medium-aged to mature selections like Parmigiano Reggiano, pecorino, or Provolone del Monaco.
