Erbaluna Barolo Annunziata 2018
Italy’s Piedmont region, and more precisely the esteemed La Morra commune in the Barolo DOCG, is home to the Erbaluna estate. Managed by the organic-minded Oberto family, Erbaluna champions biodynamic principles and minimal intervention. The family has farmed these vineyards since the 1800s, and today the winery is a reference point for natural viticulture in Barolo. Their Annunziata vineyard lies in one of La Morra’s most prized subzones, known for producing elegant and aromatic wines.
Wine Description
This Barolo Annunziata is a striking example of Nebbiolo’s grandeur, presenting a luminous garnet colour with hints of ruby at the rim. Aromas are complex and persistent, with layered notes of dried rose petals, cherry compote, leather, truffle, and hints of spice. On the palate, it shows firm but ripe tannins, a vibrant acidity, and a refined structure, offering flavours of wild berries, tobacco, and earthy undertones. Medium to full-bodied with an enduring, savoury finish, the wine demonstrates depth and finesse.
Food Pairing
Ideal with rich mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, roasted lamb, or aged cheeses such as Castelmagno or Parmigiano Reggiano. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
