Dom Perignon Vintage 2015 Takashi Murakami Limited Edition
Introduction
Dom Pérignon Brut Murakami Edition originates from France, within the prestigious Champagne region. Founded as the prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, the house is named after Dom Pierre Pérignon, a 17th century Benedictine monk who pioneered many foundational winemaking methods used in Champagne today. The winery operates under a creative philosophy of 'the harmony of contrasts', ensuring every vintage is a singular creation crafted only in exceptional seasons. This limited edition collaboration features the playful artwork of contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, including his signature smiling flower motif.
Wine Description
This vintage Champagne presents a luminous straw yellow colour and a complex sensory profile. The aroma opens with deep notes of cocoa and roasted nuts, followed by bright lime blossom, jasmine, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied and layered, revealing flavours of ripe stone fruit, toasted brioche, and almond. The wine is characterized by a structural poise and a fine, pinprick mousse, leading to a long finish marked by saline notes and a touch of grapefruit bitterness. This blend of 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay is not certified organic, though it follows rigorous traditional standards. The ABV for this edition is 12.5%, and the optimal drinking window extends from 2025 through 2045.

Food Pairing
This dry sparkling wine is highly versatile and pairs excellently with fresh seafood such as oysters, scallops, and prawns. It also complements rich vegetarian fare, including pasta with cream or mushroom sauces and white truffle risotto. For a decadent experience, it can be served with smoked salmon, sushi rolls, or soft ripened cheeses.
Vintage Quality
The 2015 vintage was a successful yet tricky year for the region, characterized by a particularly warm growing season. Despite these challenges, the harvest produced wines with significant clarity, detail, and a notably phenolic profile that differs from more familiar iterations.
