Denizot Pouilly Fume 2023
Introduction
Produced in France, this elegant white wine hails from the Pouilly Fumé appellation in the Upper Loire Valley. Domaine Denizot is a historic family estate led by sixth generation winemakers Thibauld and Jennifer Denizot, who recently took over from Thibauld's parents, Thomas and Marie. The winery is located in Verdigny, and the family is currently transitioning their 18.5 hectares of vines to organic and biodynamic farming. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention and a 'micro-cru' approach to express the exceptional diversity of their limestone and flint terroirs.
Wine Description
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc presents a limpid, pale lemon yellow colour in the glass. The aromatic profile is finely etched, leading with delicate scents of white flowers, elderflower, green apple, and white peach. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied and precise, offering a supple texture with vibrant layers of pink grapefruit, lime zest, and gooseberry. It is defined by its incisive structure and a deep minerality reminiscent of crushed flint and wet stone. The finish is dry, tense, and lingering, leaving a gentle saline and smoky trail. While refreshing upon release, this wine has the depth to be enjoyed through 2028.
