Bruno Giacosa Falletto Barbaresco Rabaja 2021
This prestigious and monumental red wine originates from the Rabajà MGA in the village of Barbaresco, Piedmont. Bruno Giacosa, often referred to as the "Prophet of Neive," was one of the greatest winemakers in history, known for his uncompromising standards and ability to select the finest fruit in the region. The Rabajà bottling comes from the estate's Falletto property, specifically a small 0.60-hectare plot with a southwest exposure that produces some of the most powerful and structured wines in the appellation.
Wine Description
The Bruno Giacosa Falletto Barbaresco Rabajà presents a deep red garnet colour with light orange highlights at the rim. The sensory profile is exceptionally complex and "saturating," featuring an aromatic nose of cherry, plum, and wild berries, layered with sophisticated notes of violets, mint, tobacco, and licorice root. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and muscular, showcasing a "solid spine" of firm, velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that ensures immense longevity. It is characterized by its remarkable consistency and length, leading to a persistent finish marked by minerality, flint, and savory elements. This 100% Nebbiolo has an ABV of 14.5% and underwent 25 days of maceration in oak vats, followed by 19 months of aging in oak barrels and 17 months in the bottle before release.
