La Spinetta Barbaresco Valeirano 2019

La Spinetta Barbaresco Valeirano 2019

La Spinetta Barbaresco Valeirano 2019 originates from Italy, within the Barbaresco subregion of Piedmont. The estate was founded in 1977 by the Rivetti family, who began their winemaking journey with Moscato d'Asti before expanding into prestigious red crus like Valeirano. Currently managed by Giorgio and Andrea Rivetti, the winery follows a philosophy that prioritizes intense vineyard work and minimal intervention in the cellar to express the true potential of indigenous varieties. The Valeirano vineyard in Treiso is a tiny three-hectare plot situated at high altitude, characterized by rocky calcareous soils that impart a unique 'Barolo-like' structure and significant longevity to the wine.

Wine Description

This red wine presents a dark garnet colour in the glass. The sensory profile is complex and profound, featuring a fragrant nose of dark cherry, plum, and sweet spice, layered with earthy notes of truffle, dried flowers, menthol, and leather. On the full-bodied palate, it is structured and muscular yet elegant, delivering flavours of blackberry and raspberry alongside balsamic hints and a surprising mineral intensity. The finish is powerful and intense, supported by noble, well-integrated tannins.

  • Varietal Composition: 100% Nebbiolo.

  • ABV: 14.5%.

  • Ageing: Matured for 20 to 22 months in entirely new, medium-toasted French oak barriques, followed by three months in stainless steel and at least 12 months in the bottle prior to release.

  • Organic Status: The estate utilizes organic and sustainable farming practices, avoiding herbicides and pesticides.
