Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Brut 2016
Perrier Jouët Belle Epoque Brut 2016 originates from France, within the Champagne region. Founded in 1811, Maison Perrier Jouët has a long history of innovation, being the first house to produce a brut champagne in 1854. The Belle Epoque cuvée, first appearing in 1964, is the house's flagship vintage champagne and is instantly recognisable by its bottle adorned with Japanese white anemones designed by Art Nouveau master Emile Gallé in 1902. The winery's philosophy is deeply tied to the elegance of Chardonnay, which has been at the heart of their intricate floral style for over two centuries.
Wine Description
This champagne presents a pale golden yellow colour with greenish highlights or silvery reflections. The sensory profile is delicate and complex, featuring a nose of white flowers (linden and hawthorn), white peach, grapefruit, and spring flowers, evolving into notes of marzipan and sweet spices. On the palate, it is described as svelte and satingly, delivering a 'crystalline' freshness with flavours of poached pear, elderberry, and citrus energy, balanced by a chalky mineral character. The finish is long, stylish, and persistent, with well-integrated notes of toasted almond and grilled pineapple.
Varietal Composition: A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, and 5% Meunier.
ABV: 12.5%.
Organic Status: While the house celebrates biodiversity and the biological balance of the Champagne ecosystem, this specific cuvée is not typically certified organic.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is aged for approximately five years in the cellars and finished with a dosage of 8 to 9 g/L to enhance its elegance and refinement.
