Valfaccenda Roero Arneis Bianco 2023

Valfaccenda Roero Arneis Bianco 2023

Produced in Italy, this expressive white wine originates from the Roero region in Piedmont, a territory defined by its steep hills and ancient sandy soils. Valfaccenda is a small, artisanal winery led by Luca Faccenda and Carolina Roggero, whose philosophy is deeply rooted in 'conservative enology'—a commitment to making authentic wines that neither add nor take away from the natural transformation of the grapes. Their work focuses exclusively on the traditional grapes of the Roero, Arneis and Nebbiolo, aiming to transfer the true scent of the vines and the salinity of sea fossils directly to the drinker.

Wine Description

Valfaccenda’s Roero Arneis is a departure from the often 'rotund' or lifeless style of the variety, offering instead a wine of significant texture, substance, and vibrant energy. It presents a bright profile driven by white peach, Granny Smith apple, and citrus notes like lemon peel, seasoned with delicate highlights of fennel pollen, jasmine blossoms, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a notable salinity and a 'textbook' salty finish that is a hallmark of the estate's sandy terroir. Composed of 100% Arneis from organically farmed 10–15 year-old vines, it often undergoes partial skin maceration and natural malolactic fermentation to achieve its characteristic complexity and depth.
