Tool Shed People Skills 355 ml - 12 Cans
People Skills is the beloved flagship "Patio Ale" from Calgary’s Tool Shed Brewing Company. When it launched, it was designed to be the ultimate "gateway" beer a brew that could bridge the gap between the mass-market lagers of the past and the bold, flavorful world of craft. It is a Cream Ale, a traditional North American style known for its smooth, mild, and highly approachable character. True to its name, this beer is built for social settings; it’s unpretentious, technically clean, and engineered to be a "crowd-pleaser" at any backyard BBQ or taproom session.
Beer Description
People Skills pours a brilliant, crystal-clear straw gold with a frothy white head and a lively, effervescent carbonation that looks exceptionally refreshing in the glass.
Aroma: The nose is clean, delicate, and "sunny." It leads with dominant notes of sweet corn and honeyed crackers, followed by a very subtle floral hop scent. There is a faint, fruity ester reminiscent of white grape or pear that gives it a slightly more sophisticated bouquet than a standard pale lager.
Palate: On the tongue, it is light-to-medium bodied with a remarkably smooth, "creamy" mouthfeel. It leads with a soft bready sweetness and toasted grain, which is quickly balanced by a very low, herbal bitterness. The finish is crisp and dry, leaving the palate clean and ready for the next sip.
Profile: It sits at a highly sessionable 5.2% ABV and a very low bitterness of 18 IBU, prioritizing "drinkability" over hop intensity.
Technical Notes: Although it is an Ale (top-fermented), People Skills borrows techniques from the lager world. It is brewed with a blend of malted barley and flaked corn, the latter of which provides that signature "cream ale" sweetness and a lighter body. Tool Shed utilizes a specific cool-fermentation process and an extended cold-aging period to ensure the beer is as crisp and clean as a lager while maintaining the subtle fruity complexity of an ale.
