Tignanello 2015 (by Tenuta Tignanello)

Tignanello 2015 (by Tenuta Tignanello)

Produced by the historic Marchesi Antinori family in the heart of Italy's Chianti Classico region, Tenuta Tignanello is situated in the Toscana IGT subregion. The Antinori family has overseen the estate for over 25 generations, maintaining a winemaking philosophy focused on an 'ongoing challenge and a never-ending passion' to showcase the potential of their unique terroir. This landmark vineyard, characterized by marine marlstone soils rich in limestone and schist, was the birthplace of the first Sangiovese wine to be aged in barriques and one of the earliest red wines in the region to exclude white grapes from its blend.

Wine Description

The Tignanello displays an intense ruby red colour. The aromatic profile is complex and deep, featuring dark berries, ripe red fruit, and cassis, seamlessly balanced with notes of sandalwood, Spanish cedar, liquorice, and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, rich, and vibrant, characterized by polished, fine grained tannins and a bright acidity that provides incredible depth. Stylistically, it achieves a remarkable harmony between power and elegance, offering a savory character with layers of black cherry and blackberry compote that lead into a long, persistent finish.

Accolades

Food Pairing

The structured profile and vibrant acidity of Tignanello make it an ideal companion for roasted filet mignon with a rich beef stock reduction or seared lamb chops seasoned with mint and rosemary. It also pairs exquisitely with traditional Tuscan fare such as a veal stew prepared with porcini mushrooms and tomatoes.
