The Ned Pinot Gris 2025
The Ned Pinot Gris originates from New Zealand, specifically from the Marlborough region and the Waihopai Valley subregion. Established in 2006, The Ned is the award winning passion project of Brent Marris, a pioneer of the Marlborough wine industry who named the brand after one of the tallest peaks southeast of his vineyards. Marisco Vineyards, the parent company, remains family owned and operated, with Brent and his wife Rosemary focused on building a multi-generational legacy in their 268-hectare property.
Wine Description
This wine is instantly recognizable for its unique salmon pink hue, achieved by allowing a portion of the naturally pink-skinned grapes to undergo skin contact for 8 to 10 hours before pressing. The sensory profile is bright and aromatic, featuring a nose of nectarine, white peach, and honeydew melon with underlying nuances of spice. On the palate, it is lush and medium-bodied, delivering flavours of juicy stone fruit and spicy poached pear supported by a satin texture and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and unctuous, reflecting the ripeness of the Marlborough cool-climate fruit.
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Gris.
Stylistic Notes: Crafted in an off-dry style, the wine balances its notable fruitiness with fresh acidity and a subtle hint of ginger or baking spice.
ABV: 13.5%.
Organic Status: While produced using sustainable viticulture and certified vegan, this specific bottling is not typically certified organic.
