The Glent Grant 65 Year Old

The Glent Grant 65 Year Old

The Glen Grant 65 Year Old is a rare and prestigious single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland. It marks the inaugural release of the Splendours Collection, a series designed to showcase the most exceptional casks maturing at the distillery. The Glen Grant was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant and was later famously expanded by James 'The Major' Grant, who introduced the tall, slender stills and water cooling purifiers that define the brand's elegant style. Today, the distillery is owned by the Italian company Campari Group.

Spirit Description

This extraordinary whisky was distilled in 1958 and matured for six and a half decades in a single French oak butt within Warehouse No. 4, the distillery's oldest traditional stone dunnage warehouse. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.5% ABV.

  • Colour: It possesses deep and captivating hues of mahogany.

  • Aroma: The nose is abundantly sweet with notes of syrupy treacle, balanced by the juiciness of ripe blackberries and subtle hints of sandalwood.

  • Palate: It delivers vibrant bursts of orange complemented by ripe black cherries, rich fruit cake, and sweet, sticky dates.

  • Body: The spirit is complex and viscous, retaining the signature Glen Grant DNA while exhibiting the profound influence of ultra high age.

  • Finish: It concludes with a smooth crescendo of citrus, light spice, and oak, featuring a delicate hint of smoke that reflects the historical use of peat in the distillery's 1950s production.

Accolades

As a highly limited release of only 151 decanters worldwide, the Glen Grant 65 Year Old is presented in a handcrafted masterpiece designed by artist John Galvin and Glasstorm.

  • Design Concept: The decanter is shaped as a Mobius strip seed pod, symbolising the timelessness of nature and the life cycle of the rare Himalayan Blue Poppy.

  • Market Standing: It is positioned in the ultra luxury whisky segment alongside other esteemed high age releases like the Macallan 65 Year Old and The Dalmore 60 Year Old.

  • Heritage Tribute: The expression serves as a tribute to the legacy of the Grant forefathers and the meticulous stewardship of the distillery's rare inventory.
