Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port 2016 - 375 ml

Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port 2016 - 375 ml

Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port 2016 originates from the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal, specifically sourced from the company's own vineyards and top properties in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior subregions. Established in 1692, Taylor Fladgate is one of the oldest and most prestigious Port houses, remaining family-owned throughout its entire history. The winery is celebrated for its winemaking philosophy of precision and its role as the pioneer of the Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) category, which was first launched in 1970 to provide a high-quality, ready-to-drink alternative to Vintage Port.

Wine Description

This LBV presents a broad purple black colour with a narrow magenta rim. The nose is bright and intense, lead by aromas of black woodland berries, raspberry, and plum, further complicated by ethereal herbal notes of resin and balsam. On the palate, the wine is luscious and dense with a fresh, grapey quality supported by taut, linear tannins and a seam of racy acidity. It is a full-bodied, elegantly balanced Port with an extraordinary long finish defined by a surge of berry fruit flavour.

Accolades

  • "James Suckling - 92 points."

  • "Wine Enthusiast - 91 points."

Food Pairing

This LBV is an exceptional match for fully flavoured cheeses, particularly blue varieties like Stilton or Roquefort, as the wine’s opulent fruitiness merges seamlessly with the rich, tangy flavours of the cheese. It also pairs beautifully with desserts featuring dark chocolate or fresh berry fruits, such as a chocolate fondant or a raspberry sauce-topped cake.
