Sena Red Blend 2022

Sena Red Blend 2022

Seña is a premier Chilean red blend from the Aconcagua Valley, established in 1995 as a historic joint venture between Eduardo Chadwick and the legendary Robert Mondavi. This partnership aimed to demonstrate Chile’s full potential by creating a world class 'Icon' wine that reached the quality level of a Bordeaux First Growth. The estate is deeply committed to biodynamic farming and sustainability, utilizing its 42 hectare hillside vineyard to produce wines with a profound sense of place and authenticity.

Wine Description

The wine presents a deep garnet or rich ruby red colour with violet nuances. The aromatic profile is perfumed and complex, offering intense notes of fresh red and black fruits, plums, and blueberries, layered with hints of lavender, graphite, cedar, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is full bodied yet vibrant, showing a beautiful balance between tension and ampleness. It features extremely polished, delicate tannins and a refreshing character, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by lingering notes of liquorice and maraschino cherry.

Accolades

  • James Suckling – 98 points

  • Wine Advocate – 97 points

  • Decanter – 97 points

  • Vinous – 96 points

  • Wine Spectator – 93 points

Food Pairing

The robust structure and dark fruit profile of this wine make it an ideal companion for hearty meat dishes such as pepper steak, roasted lamb, or gourmet burgers. It also pairs excellently with rich, savoury dishes like mushroom Wellington or aged cheddar, which help to soften the wine's firm tannins.
