Farmed organically for over 50 years, Castagnoli’s 11 hectares of vineyards sit on terraced slopes held up by dry stone walls. Interspersed with olive trees, individually staked bush vines soak up the radiated heat and southwestern sun. The 2019 demonstrates generous ripeness, juxtaposed with cool, high altitude perfumes and buoyancy. It charms with an intense mix of sweet garden herbs, savoury spice, tobacco, and dense red berries framed by firm yet silky tannins. Succulent blood orange pierces through on the warming finish.
