River Retreat Sauvignon Blanc 2025
River Retreat Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, tropical white wine produced by Trentham Estate in the Murray Darling region of New South Wales, Australia.
The River Retreat range is built on a strong environmental initiative dedicated to the preservation of the Murray Darling Basin's fragile wetlands. For every bottle sold, the winery makes a donation to the Murray Darling Wetlands Working Group to help maintain these vital inland ecosystems. The Trentham Estate winemaking philosophy focuses on producing high-quality varietal wines that emphasize full fruit flavor while remaining accessible and eco-conscious.
Wine Description
This wine presents a pale green color and a "zesty" profile designed for immediate enjoyment. The nose is greeted by lifted aromas of tropical fruit, including lychee, passionfruit, and sweet pineapple, often accented by notes of citrus and fresh lemongrass. On the palate, the wine is bright and zippy, showcasing a balance of crisp acidity and flavors of kiwi, soft pawpaw, and green basil. It is characterized by its steely, flinty finish and a richer mouthfeel than its counterparts from New Zealand.
The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from vineyards featuring red loam over limestone soils. To preserve its vibrant fruit characters, the grapes are harvested in the cool of the night. Only the best quality free-run juice is used, fermented with selected yeasts at cold temperatures to enhance varietal purity. This 2025 release has an ABV of 12.5% and is both vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
