Raventos De Nit Rose 2023

Raventos De Nit Rose 2023

Introduction

This sparkling rosé wine originates from Spain, specifically from the Conca del Riu Anoia region in the Alt Penedes. The Raventos i Blanc estate has been in the same family since 1497, representing one of the longest documented viticultural traditions in Europe. In 1986, Josep Maria Raventos i Blanc founded the modern winery to focus on high-quality estate production, and in 2012, his grandson Pepe Raventos withdrew from the Cava DO to champion the specific terroir of the River Anoia Valley. The estate follows a polyculture philosophy, utilizing biodynamic principles and traditional Catalan farming practices, such as horse ploughing, to ensure maximum authenticity and life within the vineyard.

Description

Raventos De Nit Rose presents as a pale, elegant pink with crystalline aromas of light citrus, red flowers, and white fruit. The palate is clean and precise with a smooth, voluminous texture, fine bubbles, and a dry, chalky finish. It displays sophisticated balance and freshness, featuring subtle notes of fennel, esparto grass, and a faint mineral undertone. The varietal composition is a blend of indigenous white grapes—typically 50% Xarello, 34% Macabeo, and 11% Parellada—with approximately 5% Monastrell added to provide its delicate colour and a touch of red fruit character. This extra brut sparkling wine is aged on its lees for at least 18 months, has an ABV of 12% to 12.5%, and is produced from certified biodynamic and organic vineyards.

Food Pairing

The structured elegance and vibrant acidity of this sparkling rosé make it a versatile partner for many different cuisines. It pairs perfectly with salty snacks like marinated olives or caviar, and more substantial dishes such as grilled seafood, shellfish, or meaty fish like salmon and tuna. Its mineral tension and fresh fruit profile also complement tapas, charcuterie, lightly spiced Asian dishes, and soft French cheeses like Brie or Camembert.
