Poggio di Sotto is widely regarded as one of the great names of Brunello, and the 2018 release shows why. This is a luminous, elegant expression of the vintage, balancing ripe fruit with savoury complexity and poised structure.

On the nose, aromas of cherry, strawberry, dried roses and balsamic sweetness mingle with notes of herbs, incense, sandalwood and exotic spice. The palate unfolds with juicy red and black berries, cranberry, leather, and a touch of garrigue, lifted by vibrant acidity and wrapped in velvety tannins. Hints of white pepper, licorice and a saline edge add intrigue and length, while the finish is long, graceful and harmoniously mid-weight.

Vinified with the estate’s hallmark precision and aged 30 months in large oak casks, the 2018 is approachable in its youth yet built to evolve beautifully over the next two decades. It captures the freshness of a cooler, classic vintage while retaining Poggio di Sotto’s signature finesse and aromatic intensity.
