Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11 is a robust single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. Released in late 2024, this eleventh instalment continues the 'Peat in Progress' series, showcasing the distillery's evolution in crafting high-smoke expressions. Glengyle was originally founded in 1872 and was revived in 2004 by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd., the owners of the nearby Springbank Distillery. The whisky is marketed under the name Kilkerran because the name rights to Glengyle are held by another company.

Spirit Description

This batch was matured in a combination of 90% ex-bourbon and 10% ex-sherry casks, resulting in a profile that balances intense smoke with coastal and sweet elements. It is non-chill filtered and contains no artificial colouring.

• Colour: The whisky presents a natural pale gold to light amber appearance.

• Aroma: The nose features characteristic Kilkerran citrus notes of lemon and key lime pie, intertwined with toasted rye bread and thick peat smoke.

• Palate: It offers a rich mouthfeel with flavours of toasted marshmallows, campfire embers, and hints of vanilla custard.

• Body: This is a full-bodied and powerful cask-strength spirit with a distinctly oily and maritime character.

• Finish: The finish is long and smoky, accompanied by a notable mineral note and a touch of ashy campfire.
