Masi Campofiorin 2021 - 375 ml

Masi Campofiorin 2021 - 375 ml

Introduction

This red wine originates from Italy, specifically from the stream-filled valleys of the Veronese hills in the Veneto region, produced under the Rosso del Veronese I.G.T. appellation. Founded in 1772 by the Boscaini family, Masi Agricola is a historic estate renowned for its mastery of the ancient Venetian appassimento (grape drying) technique. Masi created Campofiorin in 1964, pioneering a new category of "Supervenetian" wines that bridge the gap between the simple approachability of a Valpolicella and the complex intensity of an Amarone.

Wine Description

Masi Campofiorin displays an intense ruby red colour. The nose is rich and intriguing, offering aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and sweet spices such as black pepper and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and robust yet harmonious, featuring intense flavours of berry fruit and dried figs balanced by a delicate acidity. It is characterized by its smooth, velvety texture and firm but soft tannins that lead to a long finish with notes of dark chocolate. This blend is composed of approximately 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara grapes. It typically features an ABV of 13% to 13.5% and is produced using a double fermentation method where fresh wine is refermented with 25% to 30% whole, semi-dried grapes. The wine is matured for a minimum of 18 months in wood. While Masi utilizes sustainable practices and manages several organic estates, this specific wine is not generally certified organic.
