Chateau Doisy Dubroca Sauternes by Lucien Lurton 2011 - 500 ml Bottle

Chateau Doisy Dubroca Sauternes by Lucien Lurton 2011 - 500 ml Bottle

Chateau Doisy Dubroca is a Second Growth estate located in France, within the Barsac subregion of the Sauternes appellation. Once part of a larger single estate that included the three modern 'Doisy' properties, the chateau was purchased by Lucien Lurton in 1971 and later managed by his son, Louis. The estate is celebrated for being the smallest classified growth in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac, maintaining a traditional winemaking philosophy focused on the purity of the Semillon grape.

Wine Description

This 2011 Sauternes presents a bright golden-straw hue in the glass. The aromatic profile is enticing and lively, featuring a bouquet of pear, peach, and mango underscored by delicate floral notes of honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is intensely flavoured and fresh, offering defined layers of ripe white stone fruit, lime oil, and tropical notes like pineapple. It possesses a medium to full body with a viscous entry, balanced by a vibrant acidity that prevents the sweetness from becoming heavy. The finish is clean and persistent, with subtle hints of soil and coconut.

Accolades

  • Wine Spectator – 95 points

  • James Suckling – 94 points

  • Vinous – 92 points

Food Pairing

The lush and balanced profile of this wine makes it an excellent companion for fruit-based desserts, such as apple tarts or banana-themed sweets. It also pairs beautifully with rich, savoury starters like duck liver crème brûlée or classic foie gras, where the wine's acidity cuts through the fat. For a cheese course, consider a pungent Dolcelatte or other blue cheeses to create a sophisticated sweet-and-salty contrast.
