Louis Latour Pinot Noir Valmoissine 2024
This Pinot Noir is a product of France, hailing from the region of Var in the South-East, specifically the Indication Géographique Protégée (IGP) Var Coteaux du Verdon. Maison Louis Latour, a highly respected family-owned producer since 1797, established the Domaine de Valmoissine in 1989 with the goal of creating a high-quality, affordable Pinot Noir. The vineyards are located on the site of an ancient monastery, benefitting from clay and limestone soils at 500 meters above sea-level, which ensures cool nights despite warm, sunny days. This unique location and the application of Burgundian vineyard management techniques ensure a wine of elegance and finesse.
Wine Description
This 100% Pinot Noir presents a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is distinctive, offering aromas of red fruits, notably cherry and nutmeg. The palate is round and fresh, revealing notes of cherry, blackberry, and liquorice. It is a balanced and subtle wine, with strong tannins that are beginning to mellow and a nice tannic finish. The winemaking involves traditional fermentation in open steel tanks, followed by ageing for ten to twelve months in stainless steel vats to preserve the fruit's purity.
