Kilbeggan Black Irish Whiskey - 700 ml
Kilbeggan Black is a permanent, premium addition to the core range of the historic Kilbeggan Distillery, Ireland's oldest continuously licensed distillery (founded in 1757). This expression is a departure from the traditional "smooth and light" Irish profile, as it incorporates a small amount of peated malt. While most Irish whiskeys are triple-distilled, Kilbeggan Black is traditionally double-distilled in ancient copper pot stills—one of which is over 180 years old. This method preserves more of the grain's natural oils and character, resulting in a blended whiskey that offers significantly more depth and a subtle, smoky complexity.
Spirit Description
The whiskey is matured in ex-bourbon casks and presents a pale gold color. On the nose, it leads with a comforting sweetness of ripe apples and pears, followed by creamy butterscotch and a delicate hint of peat smoke that adds savory depth. The palate is mellow and well-rounded, featuring notes of green fruits and cereal that gradually develop into a soft, earthy peat smoke. The finish is medium-to-long and lingering, characterized by a persistent wisp of smoke and gentle baking spices. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
