Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry 54.8% ABV

Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry 54.8% ABV

Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry Single Cask Strength is a premium single malt whisky from the Yilan County of Taiwan. Established in 2005 by the King Car Group, the Kavalan distillery is renowned for its philosophy of blending traditional Scottish distillation methods with Taiwan's unique subtropical climate to accelerate the maturation process. This rapid aging, often described as 'science meets nature', allows the spirits to achieve a depth and complexity in just a few years that would typically require decades in cooler regions.

Whisky Description

This whisky presents a deep, mouth-watering raisin and dark mahogany colour. The nose is clean and complex, offering intense layers of dried fruit, nuttiness, and spices, with distinct touches of marzipan, vanilla, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is rich, oily, and full bodied, delivering robust notes of plums, raisins, and tropical mango alongside warm cinnamon and a hint of fine coffee. The finish is exceptionally long and warming, evolving with dark fruit, chocolate, and lingering earthy spices.

Food Pairing

The intense sherry influence and complex spice profile of this whisky pair exceptionally well with robust, savoury dishes such as slow braised oxtail stew or Peking duck. For a dessert match, it beautifully complements a dense chocolate torte or a rich fig cake, which echoes its deep fruit character.
