Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino - 3 Litre Bottle
Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino originates from Italy, within the Montalcino subregion of Tuscany. Established in 1890 by Lavinio Franceschi, Tenuta Il Poggione is one of the three original producers of Brunello and a founding member of the local consortium. Currently owned by Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi, the estate follows a philosophy of diversified agriculture and traditional winemaking, utilizing meticulous vine care and long ageing to craft classic, cellar-worthy wines.
Wine Description
This red wine presents a deep ruby red colour that can show purple reflections in its youth. The sensory profile is intense and persistent, featuring a complex bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with notes of spice, leather, tobacco, forest floor, and dried flowers. On the full-bodied palate, it is warm and balanced, delivering concentrated fruit flavours supported by a 'steely' backbone and velvet-smooth, crunchy tannins. The finish is remarkably long and mineral-tinged, often revealing hints of orange zest, licorice, and graphite.
-
Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese (locally known as Brunello).
-
ABV: Typically recorded at 14.5% to 15%.
-
