Hacienda Lopez de Haro San Vicente de la Sonsierra 2020

This 2020 vintage is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo, sourced from 18 hectares of selected vineyards at an average altitude of 530 metres in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The wine underwent a 12-day maceration, followed by controlled fermentation at temperatures below 25°C. It was then aged for 14 months in a combination of new and second-use French oak barrels (40%) and Eastern European oak barrels (60%).

In the glass, it presents an intense cherry colour with garnet hues at the rim, showcasing vibrancy and brightness. The nose is marked by predominant aromas of black fruits, complemented by balsamic and mineral notes, offering great depth. Additional nuances of broom, forest floor, and sweet undertones from barrel aging contribute to its complexity.

On the palate, the wine is fresh, enveloping, and persistent. The breadth of the Tempranillo variety is harmoniously combined with the acidity and tension of Mazuelo, resulting in a wine of considerable complexity and nuance.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs excellently with a variety of dishes, including roast lamb, lamb chops, stews, casseroles, and cured cheeses like Manchego. Its depth and character are highlighted when accompanied by hearty and flavourful meals.
