Introduction

Glenmorangie 16 Year Old The Nectar is a premium single malt Scotch whisky originating from the Highland region of Scotland. Established in 1843 by William Matheson, the distillery is home to the tallest copper stills in Scotland and is currently owned by the French luxury group Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH). This expression replaces the former Nectar d'Or, offering four additional years of maturation and a significantly more complex finishing process designed to evoke the aromas of a French patisserie.

Spirit Description

The spirit undergoes an initial 14 year maturation in ex bourbon American white oak casks before being finished for two years in a unique combination of sweet wine barrels, including Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel, and Tokaji.

• Colour: The whisky presents a rich yellow gold or golden honey appearance.

• Aroma: The nose is decadent and heady, featuring notes of baking brioche, vanilla pudding, and baked apricot, alongside toasted almond, chestnut, and hints of chocolate truffle.

• Palate: It offers an unctuous and syrupy texture balanced by lemon zestiness, leading into flavours of honeycomb, vanilla crème anglaise, orange scone, and warm raisin bread.

• Body: The whisky is medium bodied, elegant, and balanced, showing a supple oaky backbone throughout the tasting experience.

• Finish: The finish is long, warming, and sweet, with lingering notes of ginger spice, buttercream icing, and honeycomb.

• ABV: Glenmorangie 16 Year Old The Nectar is bottled at 46%.
