Gaja Gaia & Rey Bass Langhe Bianco Chardonnay 2023
This distinguished white wine hails from the Langhe region within Piedmont, Italy. Produced by the legendary Gaja estate, Gaia & Rey was first released in 1983 as Italy's first iconic Chardonnay, named in honour of Angelo Gaja's daughter, Gaia, and his grandmother, Clotilde Rey. The family’s winemaking philosophy focuses on innovation and the elevation of Piedmontese terroir.
Wine Description
The Gaia & Rey presents a rich golden hue in the glass. On the nose, it is remarkably intense, opening with notes of honey, citrus freshness, and cedar, complemented by complex undertones of pastry cream, sandalwood, and a touch of smoky oak. The palate is full bodied and texturally expansive, balancing ripe citrus and toasted hazelnut with a vibrant, persistent acidity. Composed of 100% Chardonnay, this wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and 18 months of barrel ageing to achieve its signature complexity and refined contours.
