Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino 2019

Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino 2019

The Fossacolle estate is a small, family-run 'jewel-cellar' located in the southern part of Montalcino, with only four hectares of land. Owner Sergio Marchetti belongs to an old patriarchal family whose roots in the area date back to the 18th century. The winemaking activity officially began in 1984, after the owner of the lands gifted the 'Podere Fossacolle' to the Marchetti family. Today, the family manages the vineyards, with Sergio’s son-in-law, Adriano Bambagioni, overseeing the oenological and commercial aspects.

Wine Description

On the nose, it offers aromas of sour red cherries, fennel, and lifted floral notes of lavenders and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied and round textured, sustained by great complexity. Stylistically, it exhibits an optimal equilibrium, elegance, and complexity. The tannins are noteworthy, described as silky and oily, leading to an excellent length and persistent finish.

Food Pairing

Suggested pairings include red meats, game, and matured cheeses such as Pecorino Toscano or Parmigiano-Reggiano. Try it with stewed and braised meat dishes or a rich, tomato-based pasta.
