Falernia Carmenere Gran Reserva 2021

Falernia Carmenere Gran Reserva 2021

Viña Falernia is situated in the Elqui Valley, Chile's northernmost wine-producing region. Founded in 1998 by Aldo Olivier Gramola and his cousin, the Italian oenologist Giorgio Flessati, the winery was a pioneering venture that transformed semi-arid desert land into high-altitude vineyards. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on innovation and the use of modern technology to express the unique potential of this extreme, cool-climate territory.

Wine Description

The Falernia Carmenere Gran Reserva displays a brilliant and deep inky violet colour. The nose is remarkably intense, offering a complex bouquet of brambly black fruit, espresso, white chocolate, and sweet pepper, accented by notes of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine is robust and full-bodied, featuring a richly textured, velvety structure with super-smooth tannins. It is characterized by vibrant blackcurrant fruit and a persistent finish with hints of smoky leather and cracked pepper.

Food Pairing

This rich and spicy Carmenere is an ideal accompaniment to grilled meats, roasted lamb, and pork loin. Its structured profile also complements pasta dishes with hearty meat-based sauces, spicy Indian curries, and full-flavoured cheeses like sharp cheddar.
