Emilio Moro Finca Resalso 2024
Emilio Moro Finca Resalso is a vibrant red wine from the Ribera del Duero region in Spain. The wine is named after a historic vineyard planted in 1932, the birth year of Emilio Moro, the father of the winery's third-generation owners. As the youngest and most refreshing expression of the estate's Tempranillo, it was first released in 1994 and became the first 'young' wine in the region to incorporate oak ageing into its production. The Moro family follows a philosophy of 'kindness through social awareness' and is noted for being the first winery globally to include Braille on its labels.
Wine Description
This wine presents an intense cherry-red colour with a violet rim, characteristic of its youth. The sensory profile is highly expressive and fruit-driven, featuring a bouquet of red and black fruits such as blackberries, blueberries, and redcurrants. These primary aromas are often accompanied by subtle lactic nuances, hints of vanilla, and a touch of minerality derived from its time in wood. On the palate, the wine is well-structured and balanced with smooth, round tannins and a juicy, tasty character. Composed of 100% Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino) from vines aged between 5 and 15 years, it is typically aged for 4 months in French oak barrels. The wine generally has an alcohol content of 14% to 14.5% ABV. While the winery employs environmentally friendly and sustainable viticulture without artificial irrigation, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
Food Pairing
The fresh acidity and bold fruit profile of Finca Resalso make it a versatile companion for a wide range of dishes. It pairs excellently with traditional Spanish tapas, including Jamón Serrano, spicy chorizo, and Manchego or Mahon cheese. For main courses, suggested pairings include grilled lamb chops with rosemary, beef tenderloin, or hearty stews. It also complements comfort foods such as paella, tomato-based pasta, and vegetarian options like mushroom risotto or roasted red peppers.
