Introduction

Eau Claire Distillery Single Malt Whisky Batch 008 is from Canada, specifically the region of Alberta and the subregion of Turner Valley. Eau Claire Distillery was founded by David Farran, who was inspired to start the distillery after learning that Alberta barley is used in much of Scotland's whisky production. The distillery uses a farm-to-glass ethos, including traditional horse farming methods to plant and harvest some of the grain for their whiskies.

Spirit Description

This single malt is distilled from 100% Alberta-grown barley, using crystal-clear glacial water from the Sheep River. The nose of this whisky offers notes of oak shavings, grassy fields, and raisins, as well as red fruit, brown sugar, green apple, and white pepper. The palate features flavours of sweet malt, vanilla, toffee, and dried fruit compote, with additional notes of caramelised toffee. The finish is described as having toasted coconut, walnut, and cocoa powder notes, and also a palate-covering, building pepper spice and red fruit jam. It is bottled at 44.4% ABV, showcasing a bold, grain-forward character.
