Conceito Legitimo Red 2020
Introduction
Conceito Legitimo Red originates from the Douro Valley in Portugal. The history of Conceito began in 1940 when brothers José and Luís Costa Ferreira acquired their first vineyard in Vale da Teja, though the family business is now led by Carla Ferreira and winemaker Rita Marques. The winery's philosophy is rooted in 'concept wine' out of love for the terroir, emphasizing precision, sobriety, and a deep respect for natural cycles.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a pale cherry red colour and a sensory profile described as pure, natural, and stripped. The aroma features peppery and spicy notes with hints of warm herbs and cherry fruit. On the palate, it is medium bodied with a spicy and 'greedy' lightness that makes it soft, fresh, and appetizing. The finish is persistent and focuses on elegant fruit purity. The varietal composition includes traditional Douro grapes: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional. The wine typically has an ABV of 12.5% to 13.5% and is fermented with native yeasts and minimal intervention. While not formally certified organic in all listings, the estate cultivates its 86 hectares without pesticides or herbicides.
